There is never enough money for California projects. A Northern California town is “building” a 1/2 mile long walking trail with a pedestrian bridge over a creek along an existing flat railroad line. The estimated cost is $21 million and it is expected to take 5 years to complete. The LAX people mover to get traffic away from the airport is now 3 years past the scheduled completion date and has cost $3,3 billion so far for the 2.25 mile track. In simple math that is $285,000 per lineal foot. We discuss all of this and more on this week’s Real Talk.
